What is the difference between an Employment Pass, S Pass, and Work Permit?

The Employment Pass (EP) is for foreign professionals with higher qualifications and salaries. The S Pass targets mid-skilled workers, typically with diplomas. The Work Permit is for semi-skilled workers in approved sectors such as construction or manufacturing, with sector-specific restrictions and levies.

  • EP: Minimum of SGD 5,000/month(higher for older or finance roles)
  • S Pass: At least SGD 3,150/month, increasing with experience
  • Work Permit: No fixed salary requirement, but subject to sector-specific rules

Yes. Most Work Passes are valid for up to 2 years and are renewable, subject to eligibility, company quota, and MOM’s current regulations.
