Choose the category that matches your basis for applying: Employment Pass or S Pass holder, spouse of a citizen or PR, student, aged parent, or investor. Selecting the wrong category is a real and avoidable error, and if your situation could fit more than one, decide before submission day, not in the dropdown.

Step 3: Complete the application form

The form covers personal particulars, family details, education, employment history, and travel history. Two rules keep you safe. Match your documents exactly: names, dates, and institutions as written, because mismatches trigger queries and delays. And never leave gaps in your history unexplained. A three-month employment gap with a one-line explanation is fine. The same gap left silent invites doubt.

Step 4: Upload your documents

Upload each document against its checklist item, for every applicant included. Uploading a marriage certificate under the wrong slot, or a combined PDF where separate files are wanted, causes avoidable friction. This is also where the preparation pays off: labelled files in a sensible folder upload in minutes.

Step 5: Review, pay, and submit

Review every section against your documents one final time, pay the S$100 fee per applicant, and submit. Save the acknowledgment and reference number. Errors found after submission cannot simply be edited, so the review pass is worth doing slowly.

Step 6: Track and respond

Processing takes up to 6 months when documents are complete. Track the status through the e-Service, and if ICA requests further documents or schedules an appointment, respond promptly and completely. Silence from ICA during processing is normal and does not signal an outcome either way.
